Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in Illinois. Active IL RN license and at least three years of nursing experience are required.

The role features a 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday 7:30–16:00, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts. Travel, housing allowances, and Epic EMR use are included.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing.
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum of three years of applicable nursing experience.
• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browser use.
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgement skills.
• Multicultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process within an interdisciplinary team.
• Develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient assessment and evidence-based practice.
• Perform bedside lab testing and QC per hospital procedures.
• Utilize lift equipment safely to promote patient and staff safety.
• Collaborate with team to coordinate patient care from admission to discharge.
• Provide goal-focused shift reporting and advocate for patients as needed.
• Adhere to weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts per hospital policy.
• May float to other Carle Health hospital locations.

Responsibilities

• Surgery/Endoscopy unit within a hospital setting
• Monday through Friday schedule, 0730-1600
• 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
• Weekend rotation required approximately once per month
• Holiday shift rotation required
• May float to other Carle Health hospital locations
• Epic EMR charting required
• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process within an interdisciplinary team
• Develops and modifies individualized care plans based on patient assessment and evidence-based practice
• Performs bedside lab testing and associated quality control per hospital procedures
• Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoots as needed
• Utilizes lift equipment safely to promote patient and staff safety
• Collaborates with team members to coordinate patient care from admission to discharge
• Provides goal-focused shift reporting and advocates for patients as needed
• Adheres to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts per hospital policy
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not remain on assignment longer than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning to any Carle Health location
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
