American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ER RN for a Level I trauma center in Orange, CA. This 13-week travel assignment offers 36 hours per week across 3x12 shifts, with rotating days and nights.

CA RN license and a minimum of 2 years ED experience are required, plus ACLS, BLS, MAB, and PALS certifications. Travelers are prioritized for float assignments; no RTO during the first week; housing and weekly pay details are provided by the recruiter.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending or temporary licenses)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, MAB, PALS
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Candidates with Children’s Hospital ED experience will be given priority
• Two supervisor-level references required from the applicable unit, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer

Responsibilities

• Provide direct emergency nursing care to pediatric patients across a wide range of acute conditions including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, psychiatric, and trauma cases
• Seasonal winter staffing needs create high demand for supplemental travel nurses
• No RTO permitted, with no time off allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Facility will make best efforts to accommodate one holiday off, though not guaranteed, and travelers must be available to work all holidays
• Travelers are prioritized for float assignments

Position Summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric ER RN for a Level I trauma center requiring a CA RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Assignment Overview

Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs

Hours: 36 hrs/wk

Length: 13 weeks

Openings: 2

Actual start date is typically 3-4 weeks from time the offer is received. Start dates are determined based on facility needs and credentialing requirements.

Details

• Level I trauma pediatric emergency department serving patients up to 25 years of age
• High volume, high acuity setting with over 116,000 patient visits annually and winter averages exceeding 400 patients
• Facility never diverts patients and has no designated holding unit
• 3-5 triage areas with a dedicated fast track area
• Dedicated ED tech support for nearly every nurse, plus additional techs in triage
• Unit runs its own internal codes
• Day shift (3x12, 0700-1900) and Night shift (3x12, 1900-0700) available
• Variable shift start times including 0700, 1100, 1400, and 1900
• Travelers are prioritized for float assignments

• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before reapplying
• Rehire eligibility is subject to review due to merger between Rady Children's and CHOC health systems
• Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, completed during orientation and varying by specialty
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Regular Hours: $25.00 x 24 hours/wk = $600

OT Hours: $57.33 x 12 hours/wk = $688

Weekly Stipends: $810/wk

Lodging: $47.75 x 7 days = $334

Meals & Incidentals: $68.00 x 7 days = $476
