Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an RN for an Emergency Department true float position across multiple campus locations in California. Must hold an active CA RN license and have a minimum of 3 years of ER experience.

Travel nursing experience is required, with responsibilities spanning STEMI/Stroke certified facilities and rapid response to shock/trauma cases. The role involves 3x12-hour shifts, Day/Night rotations, weekend/on-call duties, and relocation support with travel and licensure

Qualifications

  • Active CA RN license required.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS.
  • Minimum 3 years ER experience.
  • Previous travel nursing experience required.
  • Strong skills in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
  • Proficiency with 12-lead ECG.
  • IV therapy and central line care.
  • Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management.
  • Psychiatric, neurological and orthopedic trauma care experience.
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and triage protocols.
  • Two supervisor references within past year.
  • Copies of current certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Float between three campus locations; three 12-hour shifts daily.
  • 3x12-hour Day/Night shifts with rotation.
  • Weekend rotation and on-call requirements.
  • Deliver ED care using nursing process across assessment, planning, implementation, and reassessment.
  • Advocate for patients while coordinating care and safety.
  • Handle complex emergencies including sepsis, seizures, poison ingestions.
  • Perform procedural sedation and monitor IV sedation/paralytics.
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate; reside within 50-mile radius.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department true float position across multiple campuses, requiring active CA licensure and 3 years of ER experience.

Requirements
  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Experience with IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, blood product administration, and central line care
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
  • Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
  • Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Skilled in orthopedic trauma care including splinting
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required
  • Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
Responsibilities
  • True float position rotating between three campus locations approximately 15 minutes apart, connected by shuttle transport
  • 3x12-hour rotating Day/Night shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730)
  • Weekend rotation and on-call requirements
  • Staff notified 2 hours prior to shift start regarding campus assignment
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric populations
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Handles shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process across assessment, planning, implementation, and continual reassessment
  • Serves as patient advocate while coordinating care and promoting safety and clinical quality
  • Manages complex emergency presentations including sepsis, seizures, near drowning, and poison ingestion
  • Handles procedural sedation administration and monitoring, as well as continuous IV sedation and paralytics
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius
  • Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Only one holiday may be requested off per contract, with coverage expected for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
  • Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • Only one Sutter Health facility submission allowed at a time
