American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Washington. You must have 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic EMR experience.

• Patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis
• Telemtry monitoring at nursing station; Epic charting; Alaris and Pyxis use
• Strong unit support: ER tech, RT, ED educator, house supervisor, social work, pharmacy
• Orientation includes Epic training and preceptor on day two
• Holiday coverage required for two of five major holidays

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic experience.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• General ED skills required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and medication/drip administration knowledge
• Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
• TNK administration experience preferred
• Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start

Responsibilities

• Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds, 46 ED beds including 5 safe psych rooms and a 5-bed fast track
• Average of 200 patients per day
• Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, adult psych, and high acuity medical cases
• High geriatric population including falls and STEMI cases
• No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
• Small pediatric volume, generally transferred to Mary Bridge
• Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, flexing to 5 based on acuity and staffing
• 12-hour Days/Mids and Mids/Nights shifts available (0700, 1100, 1500, 1900 start times)
• Likely scheduled a week at a time on a given shift, subject to change
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
• Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, released about 10 days prior
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required
• Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station with no tele tech support
• Charting via Epic, with Alaris and Pyxis equipment used
• Strong unit support including ER tech, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 house supervisor, 24/7 social work services, and 24/7 pharmacy support
• Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
• Increased security presence assigned to the ED 24/7 for safety
• Orientation includes NEO on day one with badge and Epic training if needed, time in mental health area and front-facing area, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor on day two
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Scrubs may be any professional color
• Modest piercings (studs only) permitted and tattoos must not be offensive
