Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center in Texas. Requires 2 years ED experience, TX or compact RN license, and certifications including ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.

The role features 1:3 patient ratios, night shifts (3x12s), weekend requirements, and Epic EMR experience. Tours may include travel housing and reimbursements.

Qualifications

  • Active TX or compact RN license required and in hand at submission
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required (hardstop)
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patients
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy and central line care/management
  • Neurological conditions including CVA experience
  • Isolation precautions/PPE, triage, and IV vasopressor administration
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management experience
  • 2 references covering 1 year of ED experience in last 3 years
  • Teaching hospital/LTAC/Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a short-term acute care Level II Trauma Center hospital
  • 1:3 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
  • Required to work 6 weekends per 6-week period
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Block scheduling approved but not required
  • Work in a stroke-certified facility with cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities
  • Must commit to 3 of the 5 major holidays
  • Dress code: navy scrubs for licensed personnel
  • Free parking in designated lots
  • First-time travelers welcome with 2+ years of ED experience
  • Local candidates may be accepted at lower bill rate
  • Former permanent staff must wait 3 months before travel rehire and reside >50 miles away
  • Candidates should not contact facility staff directly; interviews through American Traveler
  • Minimal RTO requests accepted and submitted upfront

  • candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel pay rate, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate
  • former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • candidates should not contact facility staff directly except for scheduled interviews arranged through American Traveler
  • minimal RTO requests accepted and must be submitted upfront during the application process
