Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab/EP RN for a Post Intervention Cath Unit in Alabama. Requires AL state or compact RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and at least 1 year of cardiac step-down experience.

The role features a 1:4 patient ratio, night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), and every other weekend. Travel position with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for career growth in a teaching hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (AL State or Compact) required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
• Community hospital experience required.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with sheath removal, TR band, and post cardiac catheterization care preferred.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and initiating/maintaining IVs required.
• Central/PICC line care and blood products administration preferred.
• Cardiac/vasoactive drip management experience required.
• Knowledge of heparin protocols required.
• Pacemaker care preferred (temporary/permanent).
• Dysrhythmia interpretation preferred.
• Rapid response/code team experience preferred.
• Wound care/Wound VAC experience preferred.
• PPE/isolation precautions knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Post Interventions Cath Unit serving as a step-down from the Cath Lab and overflow from Med-Surg.
• 1:4 patient ratio.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Every other weekend required.
• Provide cardiac monitoring and step-down level care for post-intervention cath patients.
• Support post cardiac angiogram, post-MI, and post-cardiac surgery patients.
• Assist with cardiac drip management and dysrhythmia monitoring.
• Requested time off limited to a maximum of 7 days.
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate.
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position.
• Candidates with a pending license may still be considered.
