Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Telemetry position in North Carolina. Requires 2+ years on cardiac floor and NC or compact RN licensure. Night shift 3x12s, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week contracts available.

You will work on a Cardiac Telemetry unit, handle A-fib, CHF, ACS, and other cardiac conditions; use Pyxis and Epic; potential to float within unit rotation; travel stipends and lodging per diem included.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
• Travel experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
• Skilled in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, BiPAP/CPAP, and nasal cannula
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years preferred at submission (pending references accepted)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry patients in a rapid, high-acuity setting
• Manage sheath removals and arterial lines, chest tubes, pacing wires and vascular devices
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and appropriate interventions with IV cardiac drips
• Use Epic for charting and Pyxis for medication dispensing

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of cardiac floor experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a Rapid Response setting
• Cares for patients with Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
• Supports pre/post procedural care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other vascular/cardiac/thoracic surgeries
• Manages sheath removal, arterial lines, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, TR bands, and Fem-Stop devices
• Ratios vary by acuity, 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• Uses Pyxis and Epic systems with SBAR communication
• Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule, 36 hours per week
• 13-26 week contract options accepted
• Floating required within unit rotation, not first to float
• May be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for complex cardiac and post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring
• Perform sheath removal, dysrhythmia management, and non-invasive airway support as part of daily duties
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO allowed during the first week
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
