Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Acute Dialysis for a 16-chair outpatient unit in Presque Isle, ME. The role requires hemodialysis experience and a ME or Compact RN license.

You will work 36 hours per week on a 3x12-hour schedule, with two shifts per day and no on-call duties. This travel assignment offers housing assistance, licensure reimbursement, and travel benefits; the unit operates Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays, with patient care focused on chronic ESRD

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ME or Compact) required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of hemodialysis nursing experience required.
• More experience preferred depending on interview and skillset.

Responsibilities

• 16-chair outpatient chronic dialysis unit
• Clinic operates Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays
• Two shifts per day, first patients starting around 0615 with changeover 1000-1200 and last patients off around 1630-1700
• 36 hours per week on a variable 3x12-hour shift schedule
• Patient population consists of chronic ESRD outpatients
• RN to patient ratio includes 2 fully staffed RNs who may assist in a tech capacity as needed; tech ratio is 1:4
• No floating required
• Charge nurse support available on the unit
• Paper charting system in use
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Weekend rotation required every other Saturday
• No on-call requirements
• Provide direct nursing care to chronic ESRD outpatients in an acute dialysis setting
• Orientation provided to unit and practice, though candidates should have foundational knowledge of hemodialysis
• Small team environment where teamwork and mutual assistance are expected
• Unit closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas; all other holidays require coverage
• Time off requests require manager approval
• Scrubs may be any color as long as professional in appearance
• Parking available in the lot behind the unit
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Candidates must not have prior permanent employment history with any Northern Light Health hospital
• Radius rules apply based on distance from the facility and require case-by-case approval for certain candidates
