Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a day shift travel assignment in Maryland. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of respiratory care experience, RRT and BLS certifications, and prior travel experience.

The role involves neonatal/pediatric equipment experience, CPAP/BiPAP familiarity, and responsibilities across diagnostics, patient assessments, and ventilator management. Travel-specific policies apply, including housing and perdiem benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience required, previous respiratory care experience preferred
• RRT certification required
• BLS certification required
• MD license required if applicable
• Prior travel experience required
• Skills in ABG interpretation, RSV care, suctioning (ETT, NT), tracheostomy care/management, trach collar, and oxygen therapy
• CPAP and BiPAP experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department providing equipment-related patient assessments and setup coordination
• Day shift, 5x8 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including apnea monitors, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilator management
• Floating required in rotation with facility staff according to floating policies and clinical experience
• Some holiday and weekend coverage expected
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles typically not accepted, though exceptions may be made for this specialty
• Travelers must separate for a minimum of 90 days after a 1-year assignment before returning
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Requested time off must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the assignment
• Orientation and annual training modules are completed through an online learning portal
