Responsibilities include working within the Respiratory Therapy Services unit, floating to all units, and operating with Epic EMR/Pyxis; 13–15 RTs on days, no on-call, and potential for first-time travelers under review.

Responsibilities

• Caseload: 10–15 general floor; 6–8 ICU patients.
• 12-hour day shift; 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend rotation.
• No on-call requirements.
• Floats to all hospital units; uses Epic EMR and Pyxis.
• Unit equipment includes AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, Parapak for MRI, and Hamilton vents.
• Support from RTs, RNs, and leaders; 13–15 RTs on days.
• Orientation includes NEO and unit-flow training.
• Holiday coverage as needed.
• Up to 7 days of RTO; fatigue policy limits hours.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) for a 12-hour day shift contract role at a Level III Trauma Center requiring 1+ years of experience.

Requirements

• RRT or CRT accepted
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• License required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skills required include vent management, CPAP, BiPap, nebulizer treatments, a-line placement, assisting with intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with 933 beds, Magnet designated and a Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Respiratory Therapy Services unit serving mostly geriatric and adult patients, with some pediatric cases in the ED
• Typical caseload of 10-15 patients for general floor assignments and 6-8 patients for ICU assignments
• 12-hour day shift schedule, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Floats to all units within the hospital
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Unit-specific equipment includes AVEA vents, Servo U vents, LPU 1200 vents, Parapak vents for MRI, and Hamilton vents for transport
• Support provided by fellow RTs, floor RNs, and unit leadership, with 13-15 RTs staffed on dayshift
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and at least one shift to learn unit flow
• Holiday coverage assigned as needed
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
• Staff cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per facility fatigue policy
• Scrubs must be a solid professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs

• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Former Advocate Health employees must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel positions
