Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a hospital setting requiring CA RRT licensure and 2+ years of experience with Epic charting.

Requirements

• Current CA RRT license required if applicable
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Prior travel experience required with availability for both day and night shifts
• Community hospital experience preferred
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

• Variable shift rotations including night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) and day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) shifts
• Rotating weekend requirement every other or every third weekend
• Covers Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Involves care of patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, COVID, cystic fibrosis, and pneumonia
• Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
• Performs airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Administers medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, and inhaled steroids
• Performs neonatal/pediatric procedures including CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, capillary and umbilical blood gases, and assist in high-risk deliveries
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provides respiratory and neuro-diagnostic care across adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Performs arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, chest physiotherapy, and basic EKG
• Responsible for pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care/management
• Participates in patient transport including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Returning staff/travelers must have a one-year separation before returning
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Must complete required lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Candidates may only submit to one Sutter Health facility at a time
