Responsibilities

  • Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, and arterial blood sampling.
  • Use Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape systems for patient care.
  • Perform bedside pulmonary function tests and oxygen management.
  • Collaborate with respiratory care team in trauma and stroke-certified hospital system.
  • Floating within facility and sister campus as needed.
  • Maintain slate gray scrub color as required by site.
  • Support weekend rotation and night shift schedule as posted.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position in a level 2 trauma center, requiring GA RRT licensure and 1+ year of experience with adult and pediatric intubated patients.


Requirements
  • Active RRT certification required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • NRP certification preferred
  • GA state license required if applicable

  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Pulmonary function testing (spirometry) experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Skills in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Experience with airway management, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with medication delivery and administration including nebulizers, MDIs, and various respiratory medications
  • Ability to interpret arterial blood gases
  • Neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedure experience
  • First-time travelers accepted

Responsibilities
  • Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification and a level 3 NICU serving as a regional transport resource
  • Primarily adult RRT population, with exposure to pediatric intubated patients from infants to geriatrics
  • Manages non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial line placement, oxygen management, and arterial/capillary blood gas draws
  • Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, and Viasys Avea systems
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and sister campus as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Provide respiratory care to a diverse patient population ranging from infants to geriatric patients
  • Work as part of a respiratory care team within a trauma and stroke-certified hospital system
  • Slate gray scrub color required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
  • No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer acceptance
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Internal staff must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Returning travelers who were cancelled or deemed not returnable must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above) highly preferred at time of submission
  • Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate requests permitted
  • Travel pairs are not assigned to the same shift on the same unit
