Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a PICU position. The candidate must hold an RRT credential and have PICU or Pediatric CVICU experience, along with BLS and PALS. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
• Care for pediatric critical care and NICU patients.
• Manage ventilator equipment including BiPAP/CPAP and high-frequency devices.
• Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures such as bubble CPAP and oscillating ventilators.
• Assist airway management including intubation and extubation.
• Administer meds including Nitric Oxide (iNO).
• Epic EMR experience is required.
• Shifts: 3x12 hour days/nights on a 50/50 rotation; every other weekend.
• Provide respiratory therapy to critically ill pediatric patients as part of a PCC team.
• Travel experience preferred; local candidates within 50 miles accepted at lower rate.

Requirements

• Pending MA license OK
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• 3 years of experience required, including at least 1 year in PICU or Pediatric CVICU
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Skilled in troubleshooting high pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• 2 verified professional references required from 2 of the last 3 places worked, each from a different facility
• License required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Patient population includes pediatric critical care and NICU cases
• Uses ventilator management equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, high frequency jet ventilator, and high frequency oscillator
• Performs neonatal/pediatric procedures including bubble CPAP, oscillating and pressure/volume ventilators
• Airway management including intubation assist, extubation, suctioning (ETT, NT), and tracheostomy care
• Administers medications including Nitric Oxide (iNO)
• Epic EMR experience required
• 3x12 hour shifts, both day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts on a 50/50 rotation based on department needs
• Every other weekend required
• 36 hours per week, 3x12s only (4x12s not offered)
• Provide respiratory therapy services to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• Candidates with prior travel experience preferred
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
