American Traveler is seeking a Level IV NICU-trained Respiratory Therapist for a night shift at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience. The role covers NICU and adult ICU care, with 4x12 hour nights and weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include neonatal/pediatric procedures, CPAP/BiPAP management, and ECMO support, along with vent management and ABG interpretation. Active RRT/BLS/NRP certifications and WA license preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (NICU Level IV preferred).
• Teaching hospital experience required.
• Washington State Respiratory license or eligibility.
• NICU Level IV procedures including high frequency ventilation and neonatal transports.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care across NICU, adult critical care, and ICU as needed.
• Night shift 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30) with weekend coverage as required.
• Float within the hospital; no cross-site travel to sister hospitals.
• Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures including CPAP/BiPAP and ECMO support.
• Administer respiratory medications and manage delivery systems.
• Operate with Epic EMR; prior experience preferred.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Level IV NICU-trained Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care setting, which may be Adult critical care and NICU combined or NICU (Level 3/4) alone
• Adult-only RRT experience does not meet qualification requirements
• Teaching hospital experience required
• LTAC and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, PALS
• Washington State Respiratory license required (license required if applicable)
• Experience with NICU Level IV procedures including high frequency ventilation, oscillating ventilator, and neonatal transports
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway management/suctioning
• Familiarity with Servo U ventilator preferred

Responsibilities

• Level IV NICU setting with willingness to also cover Adult floor and ICU areas as needed
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• Weekend coverage required as needed by the unit
• Floating within the hospital required, no floating to sister hospitals
• Epic EMR used for charting, preferred but not required experience
• Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status
• Provide respiratory care across NICU, adult critical care, and ICU settings as needed
• Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures including high-risk delivery assistance, CPAP/BiPAP management, and ECMO support
• Administer a wide range of respiratory medications and manage various delivery systems
• Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, and COVID-19
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no mileage radius restriction
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week, with no time off accommodated during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Scrubs may be any color; scrubs provided for OR personnel
