American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a teaching hospital in Seattle, WA. The traveler will join a night-shift team and provide adult critical care and NICU support, with 36 hours per week and 3x12 hour shifts.

This assignment requires RRT certification, BLS/NRP, WA license if applicable, and prior NICU/ICU experience. ECMO and advanced ventilator experience are preferred, with EPIC charting familiarity advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, NICU, and ED.
  • Manage neonatal/pediatric equipment including CPAP/BIPAP and ECMO.
  • Assist with intubation, extubation, and airway management.
  • Administer medications via aerosols and nebulizers.
  • Support during high-risk deliveries and inter-department transports.
  • No on-call requirement.

Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a teaching hospital, requiring RRT certification and combined adult critical care/NICU experience.

Details
  • Level IV NICU setting within a teaching hospital, with willingness to float to Adult floor and ICU units
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Weekend work as needed by the unit
  • Floating within the hospital required, no floating to sister hospitals
  • No on-call requirement
  • Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
  • BLS, NRP required; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Washington State Respiratory license required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care setting, which may combine Adult critical care and NICU (Level 3/4), or be NICU experience alone
  • Adult-only RRT experience does not meet requirement
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • LTAC and Trauma Level I experience preferredEPIC charting experience preferred
  • Experience with Level IV NICU work history required
  • Experience with ECMO and high frequency jet ventilator preferred
  • Experience with Servo U ventilator
Additional Information
  • Provide respiratory care across Adult critical care, Emergency Department, and NICU settings
  • Manage neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including Bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, ECMO, high frequency jet ventilator, IMV/SIMV, oscillating ventilator, and pressure/volume ventilators
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transportsPerform intubation assist, extubation, and airway management including suctioning and nasal/oral airway placement
  • Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
  • Care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy needs, COVID, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, and pneumonia
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted at same rate, no radius restriction
  • Prior UW staff must have 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
  • RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with no RTO accommodated during first 2 weeks of assignment
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • Scrubs may be any color
