Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality patient care focused on intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, all within the scope of professional license and under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and developing treatment plans, explaining treatments and procedures, conducting physician-prescribed therapies, and providing patient education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using different techniques (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).

• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Monitor, record, and report test results, including arterial puncture and ventilation efficiency.
• Engage in hands-off communication during shift changes to relay important patient information.
• Maintain accurate therapy records and charge documentation.

Required Experience

• Current ACLS certification is required.
• Experience with Hamilton C3 ventilators is necessary.

Certifications/Licensure

Active Respiratory Therapy license and current ACLS certification are required.
