Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies. This role involves working with all patient populations across various service areas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient conditions by reading prescriptions, measuring arterial blood gases, and reviewing patient information to determine therapy requirements.
• Decide on the best method of administering inhalants and making necessary adjustments while complying with physician orders.
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.
• Monitor patient's physiological responses and maintain therapy charts with pertinent information.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, breathing exercises, and pulmonary function tests to assist with diagnoses.
• Consult with physicians in case of adverse reactions and assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
• Respond to emergency code situations as necessary.

Required Experience

2 years of experience in respiratory therapy is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) certification required.
• State license required.
• Additional certifications like NRP may be required for certain facilities.
