Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Salisbury, NC is seeking a field survey assistant to support survey crews. You will help maintain equipment, load and unload, set backsights and foreshights, and assist with data collection.

Requires a high school diploma, at least 1 year of survey experience, and ability to obtain site badges. This full-time role includes traveling to remote locations, working outdoors, and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year survey experience as Rodman, Instrument Man, or equivalent.
• Must obtain badges/certifications to enter sites (MOT, Duke Energy, CSX, DOD, etc.).
• Must effectively and efficiently operate surveying equipment (GPS, RTK, robotic and traditional total stations, digital and traditional levels).

Responsibilities

• Assist party chief with surveying tasks and field notes.
• Load and unload survey equipment from work vehicles.
• Set up backsights and foresights; demonstrate instrument setup and operation.
• Maintain and operate survey-grade instruments; ensure safety gear is worn.
• Assist in data collection, enter codes correctly, and run topo surveys.
• Support temporary crew chief duties when needed.
