Job summary

Southland Industries, a large MEP company, seeks a Travel Project Accountant to oversee all phases of construction job costing for a major project and several smaller ones. You will coordinate costs, billings, and vendor compliance, working with the Project Manager to ensure timely accounting and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include compiling billings, analyzing costs vs. budget, processing payables, and producing profitability reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge and high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

• Compile, prepare and analyze monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Perform financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus budget.
• Process project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manage vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produce and analyze job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
• Assist in preparation of status reports and maintain accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identify and resolve basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

Job description

The Travel Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.
