Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing for a large project and several smaller ones. You will work with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management across the project life cycle.

Responsibilities include compiling monthly billings, analyzing costs against budgets, and managing vendor compliance such as insurance, lien waivers, and W-9s. Strong accounting knowledge and organization required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
  • Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
  • Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
  • Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
  • Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
  • Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
