Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing, vendor compliance, and risk management for a large project and several smaller ones. You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance or equivalent, 3–5 years of project accounting, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and COINs.

• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

Position Summary

The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

Position Details

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.


• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.


• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.


• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
