Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Tacoma, Washington.

The PCU nurse will float across PCU, Telemetry, MedSurg and ER Holding in a hospital setting, primarily working in an ED Holding area during night shifts.

Requirements include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, active RN license and national certifications, plus 1+ year in PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg, with IV titration, rhythm interpretation and TR Bands experience; EPIC EMR is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license and national certifications.
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg experience.
• Proficiency in IV medication titration and rhythm interpretation.
• BiPAP management and airway support experience.
• Experience with drains, tracheostomies and chest tubes is a plus.

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nurse in a hospital setting. This role involves floating within various hospital units including PCU, Telemetry, MedSurg, and ER Holding, primarily working in an ED Holding area. The position requires the ability to adapt to different patient types and diagnoses, providing high-quality care in a dynamic environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, with scheduled hours of 12 per shift, working a cycle made in 3-week increments. The schedule includes weekend rotations every other week and may occasionally involve back-to-back weekends. Out of the scheduled periods, shift times are from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, active license and national certifications in nursing. At least 1 year of related experience in PCU, Telemetry, or MedSurg, with demonstrated competency in IV medication titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, bipap management, and care for drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and TR Bands.
• Preferred Qualifications: EPIC electronic medical record experience, TR Bands experience (preferred).
• Float: Float rotation may be required, with the possibility of floating within the hospital (PCU, Telemetry, MedSurg, ER Holding) or to Allenmore Hospital, which is approximately 2.5 miles away.
• Additional Information: Orientation includes 1 day of hospital-wide introduction, 1 day of unit-specific orientation (12 hours), and 1 day of light unit orientation. The traveler must adhere to hospital protocols including hourly rounding, documentation, medication handling, and patient safety procedures. Scrub color is flexible but must be a solid, professional color. Parking is free in the designated garage.
