Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Phlebotomist) in Norfolk, VA to collect blood, process specimens and support chemistry, hematology, and immunology testing in a fast-paced cancer and blood disorder lab. You will ensure accurate documentation, quality control, and compassionate service.

Ideal candidates have phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma, and certification is a plus; willingness to travel between sites; training will be provided in a structured program to develop bench

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification is highly desirable.
• Experience with butterfly needles and phlebotomy devices.
• Geriatrics familiarity is a plus.
• Previous phlebotomy/CNA/MA experience may influence role level.
• Ability to perform/learn bench and MLT duties for extra hourly compensation.
• Strong organizational skills for paperwork and logs.
• Comfort in oncology/hematology environments.
• Willingness to structured training with shadowing and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and specimens using proper phlebotomy techniques.
• Perform specimen analysis for chemistry, hematology, and immunology tests as directed.
• Assist with basic bench tasks and MLT duties where applicable.
• Process lab orders ensuring information is complete.
• Prepare specimens for shipment to reference labs with proper labeling.
• Operate lab equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and logs.
• Travel between sites to support operations.
• Provide courteous, professional service to patients and staff.
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards.
