Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform high-quality blood draws and specimen collection across multiple clinical sites in Lafayette, IN. You will process, label, and store specimens, troubleshoot processing issues, and help train team members to maintain consistent quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include collecting samples per orders, explaining procedures to patients, operating centrifuges, and ensuring proper documentation in laboratory systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED completed.
• At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience drawing blood across pediatric to geriatric patients.
• Proficient in specimen handling, labeling, storage, and processing.
• Familiar with lab systems like Cerner and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections per procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and collection processes to patients for comfort.
• Use straight and butterfly needles across diverse ages.
• Review physician orders before collection.
• Match requisitions to tubes and ensure patient identification.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens.
• Ensure accurate labeling and storage per protocols.
• Maintain specimen integrity through proper temperatures and transport.
• Document patient information accurately in systems.
• Support training and workflow improvements.
• Adhere to OSHA/DEP safety standards.
