Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel PCU RN for a Roanoke, Virginia assignment focused on post-open heart and thoracic surgery care. EPIC EMR proficiency and advanced cardiac skills are required.

This 13-week travel assignment offers 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts (6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.), and a benefits package including day-one medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and licensure reimbursement. Local travelers are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted if from non-compact state
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Post-open heart or thoracic surgery patient care experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management
• IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Ability to manage cardiac drips and provide non-invasive respiratory support
• Experience with EPIC EMR is required
• Minimum preferred experience in facilities with 250+ beds
• Two references required

Responsibilities

• Work in the Open Heart/Thoracic Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
• Post-operative cardiac patient care and monitoring
• Remotely monitor patients using telemetry and cardiac equipment
• Activate Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Manage cardiac drips and provide non-invasive respiratory support
• Collaborate with trauma residents and mid-level providers on the unit
• Floating within skillset and shift coverage as required
• Adjust care plans based on patient condition and protocols
• Maintain compliance with unit policies and safety standards
