Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel PCU RN for a Progressive Care Unit assignment in Roanoke, Virginia. The role requires EPIC experience and competency in chronic ventilator care, with 36 hours per week across three 12-hour night shifts.

Active Virginia or compact-state RN license, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS, and cardiac monitoring skills are required. The job includes a competitive pay package, travel and licensure reimbursements, and benefits from day one.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
• Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care.
• Ability to care for chronically vented patients and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital PCU with a focus on medical/pulmonary cases and renal overflow.
• Care for adult and geriatric patients, including some on chronic ventilators.
• Staff-to-patient ratio is 1:5; three 12-hour night shifts.
• Shift schedule is three 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• May work every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block.
• Unit uses remote telemetry and tele-sitting technology.
• Floating within skillset may be required; participate in rapid response and code team activities.
• Isolation precautions must be followed when required.
• First-time travelers are accepted; time-off requests with application; no Christmas RTO.
• Two professional references required; provide driver’s license and SSN.
