Qualifications

• Active IN RN license required by start.
• Minimum 18 months PCU or relevant acute care RN experience.
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred.
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
• Experience with dysrhythmias and Cerner EMR experience or willingness to learn.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position with at least 18 months' experience and a current ACLS and BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed acuity PCU/MedSurg unit with a focus on cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
• Patient population includes CV surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, and oncology
• May be required to float within scope to meet hospital needs or at affiliate hospitals
• Shifts are 12 hours, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, including every other weekend on night shift (19:00-07:30)
• Procedures may include post-cardiac surgery care, TAVI/TAVR, arterial line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and central/PICC line management
• Telemetry monitoring required
• Uses Cerner EMR
• First-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
• Must be comfortable caring for post-cardiac surgery and ventilated patients
• Care for patients with advanced cardiovascular procedures and devices preferred
• All rooms have overhead lifts for patient safety
• Dress code requires black bottoms and red tops
• Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Local candidates not accepted for this position
• Perm or PRN staff must have a 12-month gap before returning as a traveler
• Free parking is available for staff
