Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 18 months of recent experience and competency in telemetry and cardiac care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a medical and cardiac PCU within a short-term acute care hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac stepdown and post-heart catheterization cases
• Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, IV starts, and crisis response
• Experience with ventilators, charge nurse duties, and conscious sedation is preferred
• Cerner EMR is used and prior experience is required
• Night shifts, working 3x12 hours from 18:00 to 6:30
• Weekend shifts are required
• No on-call required
• Floating within scope is required, including potential float to affiliate hospitals
• Local candidates are not accepted for PCU roles
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Teamwork in a true ICU stepdown environment with responsibilities for crisis response
• Red scrub tops and black bottoms are required
• Free parking is provided
• Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Requested time off of up to 5 days can be auto-approved
• Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated from employment for 12 months before being considered as a traveler

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license, or temporary license, must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum of 18 months of recent PCU or stepdown RN experience
• AHA or RQI certifications required: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
• Experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen required
