American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position in South Bend, Indiana. The role requires proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and Indiana RN licensure.

Start ASAP for a 13-week assignment, with 36 hours per week and 12-hour night shifts. Responsibilities include stepdown care with cardiac/stroke focus, telemetry monitoring, Cerner EMR usage, and adherence to attendance policies.

Qualifications

• Active IN or compact RN license required; pending allowed if active by start date.
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown/telemetry experience; 2 years preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
• Experience with telemetry, cardiac and stroke patient care.
• Experience with cardiac drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix).
• Cerner EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital stepdown unit specializing in intermediate MS/cardiac care.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 with focus on cardiac, stroke and some renal patients.
• Beds accommodate hemodialysis via external company.
• Floats to similar or lower acuity units as needed.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
• No on-call requirements.
• Provide specialized care to cardiac monitored and intermediate care patients.
• Work with a patient population with complex cardiac and some renal needs.
• First-time travelers are accepted; return travelers have 3-year gap rule.
• Pre-assignment completion of up to 8 hours of required modules.
• Wear royal blue or white scrubs; holiday coverage required for at least one holiday if time off.
• Comply with professional conduct and attendance policies.

Requirements

• Must have experience with telemetry, cardiac, and stroke patient care
• Experience with cardiac drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
• Proficiency in reading, identifying, and appropriately reacting to cardiac rhythms is mandatory
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz before assignment
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility; locals not accepted
