American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit in Indianapolis, IN. The role covers post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients, with 12-hour days and a 36-hour work week. You’ll float to related units as needed and may take on charge nurse duties after training.

Requirements include an active IN license, ACLS/BCLS, 18–24 months PCU and telemetry experience, and Cerner charting familiarity. Travel rewards and stipends are offered.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position specializing in post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients with strong cardiac and trauma experience.

Responsibilities

• PCU setting focusing on post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients
• Day shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00–19:30)
• Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5 based on acuity
• Cardiac drips titration and IV start skills required
• Use of Cerner EMR is required
• Travelers are expected to float to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital as needed
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required with training provided
• Every other weekend shifts required, with potential for consecutive weekends based on operational needs
• No local candidates accepted for this position
• Will provide care for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries
• Must participate in two out of three major holidays
• Up to 5 days of requested time off may be auto-approved
• Refusal to float may result in contract termination
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Training and resources provided for floating or charge nurse duties

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand for consideration

• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent PCU, cardiac, and trauma (Level I or II) experience required
• Must have telemetry experience
• Must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Cerner charting experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination required unless medical or religious exemption is provided with documentation
• Returning former employees must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler
