Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for the Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit in Springfield, IL. This 13‑week assignment requires 48 hours per week with 12‑hour night shifts and a 12‑month contract. Active IL nursing license, ACLS, BLS, and Cerner EMR experience are required.

Shifts are 12 hours, nights, and candidates must be able to float to like units and affiliate hospitals. Housing stipends, medical/dental/vision benefits, and travel reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required at time of application.
• Minimum 2 years MS/Telemetry/Cardiac Tele/PCU/IMC experience.
• ACLS and BLS certifications from recognized providers.
• Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation and post‑care for cardiac patients.
• Experience with IV therapy and line management (PICC, central/arterial).
• Ability to manage cardiac/vasoactive drips and titration.
• Experience with respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow).
• Experience with CVA, wound care, isolation precautions, drains, dialysis care.
• Cerner EMR experience required.
• Not previously permanently/PRN employed at Memorial within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU/IMC patients in a Level I trauma center.
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to arrhythmias.
• Float to related units or affiliate hospitals as needed.
• Support team in Magnet‑designated teaching hospital setting.
• Provide post‑procedure and acute care management.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (IMC/general onsite telemetry) night shift position requiring an active IL RN license, ACLS, and BLS.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PCU/IMC unit within an acute care hospital and Level I trauma center
• Patient population includes cardiac, telemetry, post-cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal, and neurological cases
• Average daily census is 38 patients
• Shifts are 3x12 or 4x12 nights (1845-0715), with every other weekend required
• Candidates will float to like units and possibly affiliate hospitals as needed
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry (unit and remote) required
• Cerner EMR used and prior Cerner experience is required
• Responsibilities include caring for acute and complex patients across a range of specialties and managing telemetry equipment
• Supports team environment in a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I trauma hospital
• Cardiac emergency response skills and post-procedure care required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assigned during contract
• No radius requirement for locals; both local and travel candidates accepted
• Up to 5 non-holiday days off can be auto-approved; more requires approval
• Parking permit provided at no cost

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA or Red Cross (RQI cards not accepted)
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac care, sheath removal, TR band, and feeding tube care
• Experience with IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management and blood product administration
• Ability to manage cardiac and vasoactive drips, PCA, and titrate drips
• Experience with respiratory support including CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and chest tubes
• Experience required with CVA, wound care, isolation precautions, surgical drains, and pre/post hemodialysis
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee at Memorial within the past 12 months
