Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking an OR travel nurse for a temporary assignment in Michigan City, IN. The role covers circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant duties with a 13-week duration, 40 hours per week, and a 10-hour day shift.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of recent acute care experience as an OR circulating or scrub nurse, with ACLS and BLS; additional certifications may be needed. Travel pay package includes a tax-free stipend and 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• 2 years of acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse.
• RN First Assistant experience may be required before assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the patient.
• Initiate patient education for home care as prescribed by physician.
• Assist physicians and staff in caring for surgical patients.
• Monitor equipment used during surgery and assist with instrument handling.
