Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking an OR travel nurse for a 13-week assignment in Springfield, MA. The position requires 1–2 years of acute care experience as a circulating nurse or scrub nurse, and possibly RN first assistant duties.

Schedule is 40 hours per week with 10-hour day shifts; travel responsibilities are included. As an OR travel nurse, you will support surgeons and staff, provide pre- and post-surgery care and patient education, and adapt to dynamic operating room needs while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• 1-2 years acute care experience as circulating scrub nurse or RN first assistant.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as the liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education per physician plan.
• Circulating OR duties: monitor patient and equipment, assist with specimens.
• Scrub OR duties: handle instruments and supplies, prep for procedures.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians, control bleeding, suturing.
