Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for a long-term care facility. The position requires 1+ year of OT experience and LTC or rehab setting experience, with a 13-week assignment and day shifts from 6AM–10AM, Monday through Friday.

A current OT license and one professional reference are required. The role includes group therapy, patient caseload management, documentation with a dedicated device, and adherence to NBCOT/AOTA standards.

Responsibilities

• Long-term care facility setting within the Occupational Therapy unit
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
• Flexible start times between 6AM and 10AM, as long as consistent and communicated with the Director of Rehab
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• Patient caseload typically ranges from 7-12 patients per day depending on case mix
• Group therapy sessions are utilized at the facility
• Dedicated device provided for documentation
• 13-week assignment length
• Screen and evaluate patients with cognitive and/or ADL physical functioning disorders and develop appropriate care plans
• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practice to guide clinical interventions
• Provide rehabilitative treatments including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities
• Assess patient progress and adjust treatment plans according to regulatory and clinical standards
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and healthcare team regarding patient progress and treatment plans
• Complete comprehensive discharge summaries and maintain accurate electronic documentation
• Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences and utilization review meetings
• Supervise and support occupational therapy assistants, rehab aides, and/or students as needed
• Adhere to NBCOT/AOTA standards and state practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics
• Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested during the assignment
