American Traveler is hiring an MRI Technologist for a 13-week weekend contract in North Carolina. The role requires ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification and BLS, with at least 1 year of core MRI experience and a license if applicable. The position serves a 457-bed Level III teaching hospital and includes weekend shifts, no call, and travel requirements.

Shifts are 12 hours, Friday-Sunday 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, totaling 36 hours per week. References and patient history documentation are part of the duties.

Qualifications

  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification required and BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of core MRI experience, with most recent experience within the last year.
  • License required if applicable.
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration, plus at least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor/Manager/Director/Charge RN

Responsibilities

  • MRI department serves a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital and handles ED, inpatient, observation and outpatient cases.
  • Perform MRI exams with GE 1.5T SIGNA Artist and Siemens 3T Skyra scanners.
  • Review and verify patient orders with radiologists or ordering providers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and explain procedures; document accordingly.
  • Interview patients for medical history and review EMR records from inpatient, ED and outpatient settings.
  • Oversee exams from start to completion of dictated results; prepare and administer IV contrast per protocols.
  • Evaluate image quality and consult Radiologists as needed; provide basic patient care and report condition changes to nursing staff.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and coordinate with Guest Services/Transport for patient flow.

Responsibilities
  • 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence designations
  • MRI department serves ED, inpatient, observation, and outpatient patients, averaging 30-40 patients per day
  • Common cases include neuro deficits, stroke, seizures, prostate cancer, diabetic foot, pancreatic cyst, and IBS/Crohn's disease
  • Department treats a large population of medical device patients and performs cases with anesthesia as needed
  • Provides cardiac imaging and pediatric imaging with and without anesthesia
  • 12-hour day shifts, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation position requiring work on all weekends on a 4-week schedule cycle
  • No call requirements
  • No floating required
  • Equipment includes GE 1.5T SIGNA Artist and Siemens 3T Skyra MRI scanners
  • EMR: Epic, RIS: Epic Radiant, PACS: Philips iSite
  • Review and verify patient orders, questioning Radiologists or ordering providers on discrepancies before performing exams
  • Identify and prepare patients using two patient identifiers, providing explanations of procedures and documenting accordingly
  • Interview patients for complete medical history and review EMR records for pertinent clinical history across inpatient, ED, and outpatient settings
  • Oversee exams from start through completion of dictated results
  • Prepare and administer IV contrast per departmental protocols
  • Evaluate technical image quality and consult Radiologists as needed
  • Perform basic patient care functions, communicate condition changes to nursing staff, and initiate life support measures when necessary
  • Follow bloodborne pathogen, isolation, and infection control protocols for invasive procedures
  • Supported by Guest Services/Transport for inpatient, observation, and ED patients, Child Life Services for pediatric cases, and tech assistants on overnight shifts
  • Orientation includes 1 day of administrative onboarding and 2 days to 1 week of departmental orientation as needed
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • RTO subject to manager approval
  • Black scrubs required

  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
