Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-volume acute care unit in Stockton, CA. The role requires Cerner experience, Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification, and CA RN licensure.

You will support high-risk OB patients, follow strict staffing ratios, and work 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotations. This assignment offers competitive pay, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits, including housing assistance and travel reimbursement for select assignments.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Strong IV insertion skills required
• Experience caring for high-risk OB patients with multiple co-morbidities
• Comfortable caring for multiples and surrogate pregnancies
• Two professional references required: supervisor within 12 months and peer within 3 years

Responsibilities

• Acute care Labor & Delivery unit performing approximately 300 deliveries per month
• Unit includes 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, and 2 ORs
• Follows state and AWHONN nurse-to-patient staffing ratios
• Uses Cerner EMR along with fetal link and Hugs security systems
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p)
• Every other weekend required, with additional weekends possible depending on rotation
• No call requirements
• Floats first to Postpartum, then to NICU as needed
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
• Charge nurse typically does not carry a patient assignment; resource nurse available for support
• OB techs assist with C-section scrubbing (2 per shift)
• In-house Laborist and anesthesia coverage 24/7
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy coverage available 24/7
• Care for high-risk OB patients with multiple co-morbidities and multiple births
• No neonatal surgeries are performed at this facility
• NICU nurse and respiratory therapist attend all high-risk deliveries
• Facility promotes baby-friendly practices with an emphasis on first-hour skin-to-skin contact
• Must understand documentation and care related to perinatal initiatives
• Scrubs are provided by the hospital
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity Health, within the past year
