Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a 13-week contract in North Carolina. The role requires Neuro/stroke IR expertise and at least 1 year of IR experience, including travel experience. BLS and ARRT certification are required, with ARRT Advanced preferred.

Licensure should be current if applicable, with NC/Compact license accepted at submission. The position involves inpatient IR procedures, 4x10 hour shifts, and rotating call.

Responsibilities

• Work in Interventional Radiology unit in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Care for adults, geriatrics, and some adolescents.
• Handle 13-17 procedures daily.
• Perform IR procedures including stents, angioplasty, angiograms, nephrostograms, kyphoplasty, and more.
• Use Siemens and Phillips X-ray equipment; Acuson is preferred.
• Cover 4x10 hour day shifts Mon-Fri with staggered start times.
• Rotate primary and backup call for 24/7 coverage.
• Call expectations: one day every ~4 weeks and some weekends.
• Maintain sterile field and perform scrub duties for all IR procedures.
• Include venous access, port management, PICC care, stent placements, vascular studies.

Responsibilities

• Interventional Radiology unit at an inpatient hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and some adolescents
• Daily case load of 13-17 procedures
• Performs all IR procedures including stents, angioplasty, angiograms, nephrostograms, kyphoplasty, peripherals, biopsies, drainages, upper and lower extremity, abdominal and pelvic, genitourinary, vascular, venous access, and neurological studies
• Utilizes Siemens and Phillips x-ray equipment, with Acuson preferred
• 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday-Friday, staggered start times between 0700-0830
• Day off varies each week (not consistent)
• Rotates Primary and Back-up call with team to provide round-the-clock coverage
• Primary call approximately one day every 4 weeks plus one weekend every 5th-6th weekend
• Back-up call approximately 7 days including a weekend every 9 weeks
• No floating requirement
• Perform scrub duties maintaining sterile field for all IR procedures
• Skills include venous access, port management, PICC line care, angioplasty, chest tube placement, embolization, stent placement, vascular studies, dialysis graft interventions, carotid stenting, TIPS procedures, and endovascular interventions
• Neurological procedures include carotid angiography, discogram, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and vertebroplasty
• Genitourinary procedures include catheter/drain exchange, cystoscopy, nephrostomy, and ureteral stent placement
• Scrubs provided
• Weekly hospital orientation with mandatory attendance for all classes during week one
• Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, with annual renewal
• Must be available for weekend and evening/night on-call rotation
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a reduced rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate transportation and schedules
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, not both
