Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist with 2+ years of IR experience and ARRT-R certification for a Cardiac Interventional Radiology assignment. The position requires ACLS, BLS, fluoro permit, and a Maryland license if applicable.

You will scrub IR and vascular procedures, assist with angioplasty, embolization, stent placements, and venous access. Shifts are 5x8 days (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7:00–3:30; Wed 9:00–5:30) with every other holiday and no on-call or weekends.

Qualifications

• ARRT-R certification required.
• ACLS, BLS, and fluoro permit required.
• MD license required if applicable.
• 2 years IR experience within last 7 years.
• Prior travel assignment experience required.
• Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with 80%+ overall and 100% on lethal rhythms.
• Experience with IR procedures in abdominal, pelvic, vascular, neurological, and genitourinary regions.
• Proficiency with angioplasty, embolization, stent placement, thrombolysis/thrombectomy.
• Central venous access experience (non-tunneled/PICC).

Responsibilities

• Handle Interventional Radiology cases in CT and X-ray; travel not required for all cases.
• Work 5x8 day shifts across Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7:00–3:30 and Wed 9:00–5:30.
• Participate in scrubbing for IR, vascular, and pain management procedures.
• Operate Philips Azurion and portable C-arm; documentation in Cerner.
• Perform tunneled catheter placements, embolizations, drain and PEG tube placements, and Pleurx catheter placements.
• Assist with epidural blocks and radiofrequency ablations for pain management.
• Maintain sterile field, patient monitoring, and equipment setup.
• Orientation begins Mondays; ASAP start date; no RTO in first two weeks.

• Every other holiday required
• No on-call or weekend shifts required
• Scrubbing required for IR, vascular, and pain management procedures
• Uses Philips Azurion C-arm and portable C-arm equipment
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Procedures include tunneled catheter placements, embolizations, drain placements, suprapubic catheter placements, PEG tube placements, and Pleurx catheter placements
• Pain management procedures include epidural blocks and radiofrequency ablations
• Vascular procedures include angiograms, thrombectomies, fistulograms, and IVC filter placements
• Responsibilities include equipment set-up, accurate patient monitoring, and maintaining sterile field during procedures
• Orientation begins each Monday with an ASAP start date
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Returning MedStar staff must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
