Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a Cardiac/Vascular IR role requiring 2+ years of vascular IR experience and Hybrid OR familiarity.

The position features a 13-week contract with a day shift (7:30 AM–4:00 PM) on a 5x8 or 4x10 schedule, plus rotating call every 4th week. Work occurs in Hybrid OR and Special Procedures settings with Siemens imaging and EPIC/H I-IQ systems. Collaboration with vascular surgeons and OR staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in vascular IR and Interventional Radiology imaging.
• ARRT (VI) and BLS certifications required.
• VA state license required if applicable; pending licenses may be accepted with active licensure in another state.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Strong vascular/IR experience required.
• Experience with angioplasty, endovascular interventions, EVAR, TEVAR, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and upper/lower extremity angiography.
• Experience with vascular access site prep and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose).
• Carotid stenting and thrombolysis/thrombectomy experience preferred.
• Epic experience required.
• Two professional references required.
• Copies of required certifications required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Interventional Radiology unit providing imaging support in the OR for vascular IR procedures.
• 13-week contract assignment.
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 or 4x10 hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Rotating call required every 4th week.
• Works in Hybrid OR and Special Procedures settings.
• Uses Siemens imaging equipment and ultrasound.
• Utilizes EPIC for inventory pulling and case ordering, and HI-IQ for case documentation.
• Downtime support includes C-arm assistance for simple surgical cases such as Impella placements and cystoscopies.
• 50-mile radius rule applies for this unit.
• Actively participate in the entire case workflow rather than solely operating equipment.
• Run the table and controls during procedures.
• Perform 3D spins and work with fusion technology.
• Engage throughout procedures including filming and post-processing images.
• Collaborate closely with vascular surgeons, OR team, and other procedural staff.
• Ability to work independently is important.
• Must float within scope of practice as needed per facility policy.
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration.
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed early to allow for appropriate start date planning.
• Previous UVA employment as permanent staff or traveler must be disclosed; a 1-year separation and leadership approval required for rehire eligibility.
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility.
• First-time travelers may be considered.
