Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking Cultural Resources Technicians for field-based work across the Southeast. The role supports crew chiefs on various projects, traveling up to 100% with assignments through April 2027.

Expect at least 40 hours weekly, and lodging, per diem, and transport arrangements provided by SWCA. Applicants should have a Field School Certification and be able to perform rugged fieldwork, sometimes in extreme heat, with up to 40 lb loads and 4x4 vehicle operation.

Qualifications

• Accredited Field School Certification.
• Ability to travel location, walk, and conduct fieldwork for long hours in inclement or rugged conditions.
• Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Current valid driver’s license and safe operation of a 4wd vehicle on rugged backcountry roads.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete archaeological surveying and field testing.
• Conduct shovel test pits and excavation units.
• Execute data recovery and field recording.
• Complete field forms, digital photography, and in-field mapping.
• Assist with archaeological office and lab work.
• Participate in GPS data collection under supervision.
• Adhere to safety program and communicate potential hazards.
