Brex is building a new travel-focused engineering team in New York. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a full-stack group, shape the mandate, and hire the next wave of engineers.

You will set direction, ship a customer-facing product, and cultivate a people-centered culture with an AI-forward mindset, balancing speed with a durable technical foundation. This role blends product judgment with technical excellence in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in engineering leadership for customer-facing products.
• Strong product sense and UX tradeoff skills.
• Staff-engineer level technical expertise across systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated coaching and mentoring of engineers.
• Ability to collaborate across Travel, Expenses, and Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a new full-stack team owning a defined part of Brex's travel experience.
• Help define and sharpen the team's mandate within the Travel group.
• Set technical and product direction, making thoughtful tradeoffs.
• Ship a high-quality, customer-facing travel product with a durable foundation.
• Foster a people-centered culture on a brand-new team.
• Partner with Travel, Expenses, and Product to align scope and delivery.
• Provide coaching and career development for engineers at all levels.
• Bring an AI-forward mindset to how the team builds and operates.
