Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with 2+ years of hospital experience to join our surgical services team. You will assist the intra-operative team, prepare instrumentation, and support multiple specialties to ensure patient safety and efficiency.

Day shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with on-call up to 40 hours on a 6-week rotation. Requires CST credentials, BLS certification, and a high school diploma or GED; license if applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential required.
• License required if applicable.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of the metric system and medical terminology.
• Strong prioritization, planning, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgical services unit supporting a wide range of specialties.
• Case types include hysterectomy, GYN, total joints, general, bariatric, DaVinci Robot, ENT, thoracics, neuro spine, and plastics.
• Cares for patients across the lifespan from neonate through geriatric.
• Day shift schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends.
• Call requirement of up to 40 hours on a 6-week rotating schedule
• Assist the surgical team during the intra-operative period, focusing on preparation and handling of instrumentation and equipment
• Support surgeons throughout procedures and adapt equipment use based on patient age and needs
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure
• Demonstrate aseptic technique to ensure positive patient outcomes
• Recognize and respond promptly to urgent or emergency situations during procedures
• Maintain adherence to professional standards of practice throughout patient and family interactions
