Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience for a hospital surgical services role. The position requires CST credential, BLS, and high school diploma or GED, with licensure where applicable.

Expect day shift coverage and shared call duties across a multispecialty OR team. Responsibilities include assisting intra-operatively, maintaining instrument counts, and upholding aseptic technique while supporting surgeons from neonates to geriatrics.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Surgical Tech experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the metric system.
• Licensure or license eligibility as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgical services unit serving patients from neonate through geriatric populations.
• Experience across ortho (total joints), general surgery, OB/GYN, eyes, and urology cases.
• Day shift 6:30am-5:00pm, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts.
• Call requirements per unit, approx. 7 days per 6 weeks, some weekends.
• Assist the healthcare team during intra-operative period focusing on instrumentation and equipment.
• Support the surgeon throughout surgical procedures.
• Administer care and equipment use based on patient age and needs.
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts per policy.
• Demonstrate aseptic technique to support positive patient outcomes.
• Recognize and respond promptly during urgent/emergency situations.
• Adhere to professional standards of practice in all patient interactions.
