Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR Heart Team position in Texas. Requires open-heart scrub experience, CST certification, and ability to cover call rotations. 13-week assignment with a 6:30 AM–5:00 PM schedule, some Thursday and weekend call, and housing reimbursement is offered.

Team includes surgeons, RNs, CSTs, anesthesia, and perfusionists; scrubs are provided by the hospital and candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius.

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
Minimum 1 year CVOR/open-heart scrub experience.
Experience with cardiac and vascular procedures.
Must be able to work independently in a high-acuity CVOR.
Must respond to call-back within established timeframe.
No 90-day gaps in work history in the past 12 months.
US SSN and DOB required; no Canadian SSN accepted.
One professional reference required (two for Florida/Missouri).

Responsibilities

Support a dedicated CVOR heart team in the OR.
Assist with CABG, valve repairs/replacements, TAVR, aneurysm repairs.
Work with surgeons, RNs, CSTs, anesthesia, perfusionists, assistants.
Maintain cardiovascular procedure competencies.
Participate in scheduled call rotation and weekend coverage.
Scrubs provided by the hospital.

American Traveler seeks an experienced CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist with open-heart surgery experience for a cardiovascular surgery team position.

Requirements

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
State license required if applicable
Minimum of 1 year of recent CVOR/open-heart surgery scrub experience
Experience with cardiac and vascular surgical procedures required
Must be able to work independently in a high-acuity CVOR setting
Ability to report within the established call-back response time
No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more in the past 12 months

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital Surgery/CVOR department supporting a dedicated heart surgery team
Team includes CVOR surgeons, RNs, certified surgical technologists, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and surgical assistants
Patient care provided on a 1:1 basis in the operating room
Typical procedures include CABG, valve repair and replacement, TAVR, aortic aneurysm repairs, vascular surgery, and open heart surgery
Uses cardiovascular surgical instrumentation, heart-lung bypass equipment, endoscopic vein harvesting equipment, cell saver, and surgical microscopes
Regular schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Some Thursday call coverage required with a monthly call rotation of approximately 10-12 call days
Weekend call is rotated among team members
Maintain competencies for cardiovascular surgical procedures
Participate in scheduled call rotation as part of the heart team
Hospital provides scrubs for the unit
Work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiovascular surgery environment
Radius rule requires candidates to live more than 50 miles from the facility, with no exceptions for local candidates
