American Traveler is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a Pediatrics position in a critical access hospital. This role requires at least 1 year of experience and an active or pending Illinois license.

The position offers a day shift (8:00 AM-4:30 PM) in a 25-bed pediatric OT unit, using Cerner charting and providing 1:1 patient care in acute and outpatient settings. Travel experience is required; local candidates accepted with no radius restriction.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required and accepted by major agencies.
• Active or pending IL state license required; license if applicable.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in occupational therapy.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Experience with pediatric specialty skills preferred.
• Knowledge of ADLs and adaptive equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric occupational therapy services in a critical access hospital.
• Operate in a 25-bed pediatric OT unit with 1:1 patient ratio.
• Follow day shift: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM and use Cerner charting system.
• Perform home exercise program development and patient education.
• Assist with lifting, transfers, safety and injury prevention.

• Active or pending IL state license required; license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Pediatric specialty skills in areas such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Handwriting, Learning Disability, Neurodevelopmental Treatment, Sensory Integrative Testing/Treatment, and Visual Perceptual Skills preferred
• Experience with Activities of Daily Living and Adaptive Equipment

Responsibilities

• Critical access hospital with 25 staffed beds
• Pediatric occupational therapy unit
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM-4:30 PM)
• Uses Cerner charting system
• 1:1 patient ratio
• No floating required outside scope of practice
• Provide occupational therapy services to pediatric patients in an acute care and outpatient setting
• Responsibilities include home exercise program development, patient/family education, lifting and transfer, and safety/injury prevention
• Business casual or professional athletic attire required; no specific scrub color mandated
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
• First day of assignment is a virtual, at-home orientation with required modules completed by 4:00 PM CST
