Description
Travel Service Technician who performs scheduled and contract commercial refrigeration system maintenance at client facilities. Assists with refrigeration system/equipment installations and equipment start-up / commissioning at client facilities. Works closely with RD&S service coordinators and sales staff to develop long-term client relationships. Prepares recommendations for client facility service / equipment replacement based on service visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Executes routine maintenance, contractual planned maintenance contract work, and emergency service work independently or with apprentice assistance.
- Completes service reports for planned service and maintenance contracts as necessary for Service Supervisor and Coordinator follow-up action.
- Supports customers with troubleshooting their ammonia and synthetic industrial refrigeration systems, including mechanical and control system operation.
- Mechanically and electrically services refrigerant compressors, condensers, air units, and other system components and/or assemblies.
- Works with tablet-based service ticket software system to complete service tasks assigned in daily Work Orders (WO).
- Prepares and submits all time / Work Order reports daily, including accurate notes/reporting of follow-up needs and new materials required for follow-up work.
- Ensures Service Coordinator has proper information to complete Work Orders for client billing in an accurate and timely manner, including all receipts for chargeable or reimbursable expenses for the Work Order.
- Communicates with Service Supervisors and Service Managers to resolve open issues at customer sites in a timely manner.
- Maintains professionalism, courtesy, cleanliness, and proper attire when working in or interacting with clients.
- Maintains current licenses required for the services performed.
- Performs other duties as required by service leads and service manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- High School Diploma
- Technical/trade school certificate in refrigeration; advanced education within RETA certification levels 1-4 and IR 1-19/ CR 1-20 modules.
- Advanced OEM training for equipment start-up and service.
- Complete all required safety and equipment training.
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong desire to learn and grow in refrigeration service.
- Up to 100% travel required.
- Trained/certified to operate a lull, scissor lift, and forklift.
- EPA certification required.
- OSHA 10-hour certification (training provided).
- Ammonia awareness and HAZWOPER training required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
