Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Medication Assistant to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. You will help with bathing, grooming, vital signs, and basic health tasks while supporting transfers and mobility.

You may administer prescribed medications as delegated, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the charge nurse. Requires state-specific CNA/ CMA training plus ongoing CE credits and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Annual continuing education requirements: minimum 12 hours.
• Maintain required certifications and state-specific training.
• May require valid driver's license and auto insurance where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Assist with basic health care tasks including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, and psycho-social support.
• Support transfers, positioning, and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
• Assist with meals, dining experience, fluids, and supplements as appropriate.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse, and document outcomes.
• Communicate changes in condition or medications to the charge nurse.
• Collect non-invasive specimens and record vital signs as required.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry support to maintain clean living areas.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees as needed.
