Job summary

Adventist Health Clear Lake in Clearlake, CA seeks an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a 13-week travel assignment supporting the hospital laboratory. The CLS will perform testing on clinical specimens, evaluate QC and specimen integrity, maintain instrumentation, and ensure accurate, timely reporting of results.

Requirements include a Bachelor's/BA/BS in Medical Technology or related sciences and a California CLS license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or BA/BS degree in Medical Technology or related sciences – Required
• California CLS license – Required
• EPIC experience – REQUIRED
• WellSky experience – Highly Preferred
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality-control procedures
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to handle STAT and critical results appropriately

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures
• Review QC, specimen integrity and instrumentation
• Process STAT orders and report results within required timeframes
• Communicate critical values to providers
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation
• Perform venous and arterial specimen collection when required
• Maintain reagents, calibrators, controls and laboratory supplies
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate technical support when needed
• Support regulatory and accreditation readiness
• Supervise Laboratory Assistants as needed
• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
