Job summary

Adventist Health Clear Lake in Clearlake, CA seeks an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a 13-week travel assignment in a 25-bed hospital. The role covers evening shift (1:00 PM–9:00 PM), 40 hours per week, with pay rates of $52–$54 per hour and estimated weekly pay of $2,080–$2,160.

The CLS will perform laboratory testing, review QC, handle STAT and critical results, maintain instrumentation, and ensure timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor's or BA/BS degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license required.
• EPIC experience required; WellSky experience highly preferred.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality-control procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to handle STAT and critical results appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures.
• Review QC, specimen integrity and instrumentation.
• Process STAT orders and report results within required timeframes.
• Communicate critical values to providers.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
• Perform venous and arterial specimen collection when required.
• Maintain reagents, calibrators, controls and laboratory supplies.
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate technical support when needed.
• Support regulatory and accreditation readiness.
• Supervise Laboratory Assistants as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
