Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Trauma Registrar to support the Trauma Registry at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels. You will identify trauma patients, abstract data, and enter it into the registry following state and ACS guidelines.

The role requires AIS/ICD-10 coding proficiency, data accuracy, and adherence to ongoing education requirements for TQIP standards. Full-time, daytime hours with hospital-based duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent years of experience required.
• Trauma Registry software training is required within 90 days of employment.
• Must accrue 24 hours of trauma-related continuing education during the designation/verification period (3 years).
• The following courses are required within 12 months of hire: Abbreviated Injury Scale course by AAAM, ICD-10 trauma course (renewed every 5 years), ATS Trauma registrar course.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
• Provides clerical, statistical, and informational support to the Trauma Service.
• Maintains a database to allow for easy retrieval of trauma statistics.
• Accurately identifying trauma patients, abstracting requisite data, and entering them into the trauma registry per inclusion criteria.
• Performs ICD-10 and AIS coding.
• Updates all trauma registry records per designations, standards, and policies.
• Captures data for ISS, Trauma Score, TRISS, Probability of Survival, GCS, ICD/AIS coding.
• Completes record abstraction, entry, and validation per ACS and state policies.
• Uploads data to regional, state, and national registries as required.
• Maintains confidentiality of data and communication.
• Participates in trauma-related activities within Regional Advisory Council.
• Performs ongoing education on TQIP and trauma topics.
• Promotes professional image in demeanor and appearance.
• Supports Trauma Program initiatives in injury prevention and outreach.
